Effective February 9, 2026, Yavapai County Superior Court began using the Family Court Pathways Tool, pursuant to Administrative Order 2026-02, to help assess family court cases quickly and efficiently. This online tool consists of a series of questions designed to determine the most appropriate level of court intervention and services, while promoting the best interests of children, reducing conflict, and ensuring effective use of court and community resources.

The Family Court Pathways Tool will be completed when both parties are not represented by an attorney in the following case types:

  1. Dissolution of Marriage with Minor Children – at the time of filing or responding to an initial petition.
  2. Legal Separation of Marriage with Minor Children – at the time of filing or responding to an initial petition.
  3. Establish Paternity, Legal Decision-Making/Parenting Time/Child Support – at the time of filing or responding to an initial petition.

The Family Court Pathways Tool will not be completed in the following circumstances:

  • When one or both parties are represented by an attorney
  • When there are post-decree actions (meaning a final order is already in place)
