Superior Court Administrator Calvin Rolf Eckel Announces his Retirement from the Yavapai County Superior Court
PRESCOTT, ARIZONA – After serving the citizens of Yavapai County for nearly 18 years, Yavapai County Superior Court Administrator Calvin “Rolf” Eckel announces his retirement, effective May 2, 2025. Mr. Eckel is a fourth generation native of Prescott and spent the first five years of his court career as the Court Administrator for the Prescott Consolidated Court, appointed by retired Justice of the Peace Arthur Markham. He was later appointed by retired Presiding Judge David Mackey as the Superior Court Administrator for Yavapai County in August 2012.
During his time with the Superior Court, Mr. Eckel served on a number of committees, including the Supreme Court’s Commission on Technology and Court Security Standards Committee. Rolf is also a member of the National Association for Court Management, National Association of Presiding Judges and Court Executive Officers, and past president of the Arizona Association for Superior Court Administrators.
One of Mr. Eckel’s most notable achievements was chairing the centennial committee to celebrate 100 years of the historic Prescott Courthouse in 2016. Additionally, Rolf is credited for enhancing court security on behalf of all courts in Yavapai County and across the state and improving courtroom technology to include remote hearings and digital evidence presentation. Yavapai County Superior Court Presiding Judge John Napper stated, “Rolf has worked hard for the Courts and people of Yavapai County. His efforts are greatly appreciated by all. I know we all wish him well in his future endeavors. He will excel at anything he chooses to do, even if it just sitting on his porch watching the day roll by. Wherever he lands, he will be missed here.”
