TEXTING SCAM USING FALSE COURT DOCUMENTS

YAVAPAI COUNTY, ARIZONA – The Superior Court in Yavapai County is alerting the public to an increase in scam activity involving fraudulent phone calls and text messages claiming to be from the courts. These scams often include fake court documents designed to pressure individuals into making immediate payment for alleged fines, traffic tickets, or missed court appearances.

These scammers are using increasingly sophisticated methods, including documents that appear legitimate and may incorporate official looking seals, case numbers, and formatting. The Yavapai County Superior Court emphasizes that it does not request or collect payments through unsolicited phones calls, text messages, or email. Common signs of fraudulent communications often include:

  • Request for immediate payment to avoid arrest, warrants, or additional penalties
  • Instructions to pay using gift cards, wire transfers, or mobile payments/QR codes
  • Threatening or urgent language intended to create panic
  • Unofficial contact information such as phone numbers or emails that do not match official court listings
  • Unfamiliar court names, mismatched case numbers, inconsistent details or typing errors

Individuals who encounter these fraudulent calls or texts are encouraged to not engage or hang up immediately and report it to local law enforcement. The Yavapai County Superior Court is committed to protecting the public from fraud and ensuring confidence in our justice system.
