Forming a business entity, like an LLC, provides business owners with personal liability protection, but only if it is set up and used correctly. Many times, business owners think that once the business entity is formed that is all there is to it. However, during the lifecycle of the business from start-up, life and shut down, business owners make mistakes that could minimize their personal protections as well as increase their exposure to liability.
