Born in Middletown, Ohio, Judge Ainley attended Western Kentucky University and Vanderbilt University School of Law. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1988 after completing law school. In 1999, she and her husband moved to Prescott, Arizona.

Judge Ainley was an attorney with the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office from 2001 to 2008, where she worked as a prosecuting attorney, as an attorney in the civil division and as a supervising attorney. She also worked for the Prescott City Attorney’s Office from 1999 to 2001. Prior to that, Judge Ainley was a prosecuting attorney for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

In 2008, Governor Napolitano appointed Judge Ainley to the Division 3 the Yavapai County Superior Court, following the retirement of Judge Janis Ann Sterling. Division 3 is now located in the Verde Valley Judicial District in Camp Verde. Judge Ainley’s current case assignment includes criminal cases, along with probate, domestic matters and lower court criminal appeals.

Judge Ainley and her husband have 2 children.
