How to file documents

You can file documents with the Clerk of the Superior Court online, by mail, or at any of our courthouse locations. Please know, clerks are committed to assisting you promptly, efficiently, and courteously but are unable to provide any form of legal advice.

 

In Person

In person filing hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, excluding major holidays. To file documents after hours, please see the Online, By Mail, or Self-Service Depository tabs.

When filing documents, please have the original paperwork along with two copies to be conformed and returned to you. One copy is for you and the other copy should be served on the other party(ies). Filing fees may be due at time of filing.

We also offer self-service depository boxes for filing documents outside the Yavapai County Courthouse, Camp Verde Superior Court and Yavapai County Justice Center for your convenience during busy wait times or after business hours.

Forms are available through our Self-Service Center. Please note that self-represented persons are required to know and follow proper procedures. If you choose to represent yourself, you are held to the same standard as an attorney.

Yavapai County is pleased to offer eFiling options for most Civil, Criminal, Domestic Relations, Guardianship/Conservatorship, Juvenile Delinquency, and Probate cases. To learn more about the eFiling, please visit Arizona eFiling for Superior Court.

Filings can be submitted through the eFileAZ and AZTurboCourt filing applications. eFiling is mandatory for attorneys in the following case types:

By Mail

To file documents by mail:

Please include original documents, copies, and a self-addressed stamped envelope so that the Clerk of Court can mail conformed stamped copies back to you. The Clerk's office will conform stamp two copies. Include the name, address (unless protected) and phone number of the filing party in the upper left corner of all documents. Documents can be sent via the United States Postal Service or a third-party commercial carrier.

Filing Fees

All applicable filing fees must be included with the documents to be filed. For information on the fees for filing various documents, please visit our fees page. Fees may be paid by personal check, cashier's check, business check or money order made payable to the "Clerk of Superior Court". Please include a copy of your government issued photo I.D.

Self-Service Depository

Self-Service Depository Boxes are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. They can be found at the Yavapai County Courthouse, Camp Verde Courthouse and the Yavapai County Justice Center.

Instructions on how to use Self-Service Depository Boxes:

  • Do not insert paperclips, binder clips or more than the front page of the document into the time clock document slot (Received Stamp).
  • File stamp the first page of your original document and copies on the upper right-hand corner.
  • Secure the items with a clip or rubber band before inserting into the document slot.
  • It is the responsibility of the person who physically places the original document in the depository to make sure the date and time are legibly stamped on the document.
  • If the date and time is illegible, or missing, we will affix the date and time our staff processes the document as the filed date and time.
  • Attach the filing fee, if required, to the original document. Fees may be paid by personal check, cashier's check, business check or money order made payable to the "Clerk of Superior Court". Do not deposit cash payments.
  • Place the entire document (with the file stamped first page) into the document slot.
    (The slot opening is only one inch. Documents larger than one inch should be grouped in sections labeled as 1 of 3, 2 of 3, and 3 of 3 etc.)
