AZPOINT, the Arizona Protective Order Initiation and Notification Tool, has been designed to help you fill out a petition for an Order of Protection. Through an interview in AZPOINT, you can quickly and accurately fill out the forms that are needed to request an Order of Protection at an Arizona court. An Order of Protection is a court order that is issued to stop a person from committing domestic violence or from contacting other people protected by the order. The portal will also help you figure out whether you (the plaintiff) and the person from whom you are seeking protection (the defendant) have a qualifying relationship for an Order of Protection. Your information will be saved in AZPOINT for up to 90 days. At any time during this 90-day period, you may take the next step of filing your petition at an Arizona court. Until you file your petition at a court, you will be able to return to AZPOINT to update your information if necessary. You are encouraged to speak to a victim advocate before you file your petition. An advocate can help you make a safety plan and give you more information about how an Order of Protection works and how it will be served on the defendant. For more information, go to AZPOINT .

16 CHILDREN ADOPTED AT YAVAPAI SPRING ADOPTION DAY EVENT
YAVAPAI COUNTY, ARIZONA – Another successful Adoption Day Event was held at the Juvenile Justice Center on May 12, 2023. Presiding Juvenile Court Judge, Anna Young, presided over the 11 adoption hearings. A balloon arch framed the courthouse entrance as families were greeted by Deputy Do Right, Batman, Dreamer, the miniature horse, and Cody, the balloon artist.
Families were able to mingle while enjoying fresh hot dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy. Two bounce houses were set up to round out the entertainment and help kids burn off the delicious cotton candy. Following the adoption hearing, pictures were taken, and each child received a stuffed animal, a book of their choosing, a handmade quilt sewn by Mountain Top Quilters, and a personalized copy of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
A big thank you to the many volunteers and organizations involved: Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation, Prevent Child Abuse Arizona, Mountain Top Quilters Guild, Dreamer and handler Jan, CASA volunteers and staff, Yavapai County Juvenile Probation staff, Yavapai County Facilities Department, Yavapai County Public Affairs, Prescott Fire, Prescott Valley Police Department SWAT, Prescott Police Department, K-9, Benny, and his handler. Judge Young said “It is only through the generosity of the volunteers that we are able to host such a wonderful event for families finalizing their adoptions. My personal thanks to everyone who made the event such a special time for the families.”
