If the offense on your citation/ticket is listed as a criminal violation, you must appear in court at the date and time specified on your citation. This is a criminal misdemeanor charge. For more information regarding your case, go to the Criminal Cases menu of this website.
DO NOT IGNORE YOUR CITATION. IF YOU FAIL TO PROPERLY RESPOND TO YOUR CITATION YOUR LICENSE MAY BE SUSPENDED, ADDITIONAL CHARGES MAY BE ADDED FOR FAILURE TO APPEAR, AND A WARRANT FOR YOUR ARREST MAY BE ISSUED.
Dismissal or Reduction of Fines
Your charge may be eligible to be dismissed or the fine reduced. For a list of eligible charges refer to the handout you were given along with your citation or you can view it by clicking here .
Diversion
Certain criminal traffic violations may be eligible for diversion. To find out if yours does, and to request the court to consider Defensive Driving School, submit the Criminal Traffic DDS Motion to the court at least 14 days prior to your appearance date, and if granted you must complete the course by the date on the order.
IMPORTANT
UNLESS YOU RECEIVE A WRITTEN ORDER FROM THE COURT PERMITTING YOU TO ATTEND THE DIVERSION CLASS YOU MUST APPEAR ON THE DATE ON YOUR TICKET/CITATION.
IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE DIVERSION CLASS PRIOR TO THE DATE GIVEN ON YOUR ORDER YOU MUST APPEAR ON THE DATE ON YOUR TICKET/CITATION.
